To all our Jnet Customers.
We would like to take a moment of your time to address the issue of today's outage.
Sometime about 2AM, the router settings that provide the connection between Jnet's customers and the Jnet stopped working. This resulted in an immediate loss of connection to all our customers in the New York region, who are connected to the internet via Verizon. Our technicians immediately contacted Verizon, requesting an immediate repair of this issue. Verizon checked the connections, and discovered that the settings in their routers had been completely deleted. This necessitated a complete rewrite of the settings - a lengthy procedure.
Due to various issues, it took some time until Verizon was able to correctly recreate the settings, and enable us to restore service. At approximately 3:15PM, we saw service begin to be restored to some customers. As the information had to be re-entered into Verizon's system individually, service could not be restored in one shot. Instead, service was restored on a region-by-region basis. At this time we see service restored to all of our customers.
We at TheJnet strive to provide our customers with consistent, dependable, quality service. To achieve this, TheJnet implements many fail-safe procedures, with many redundancies and fail-over measures, to ensure that service will always be available. However, this issue was completely unexpected, and could not have been foreseen. We are now working with Verizon to determine the cause of this serious error, and what can be done to prevent this from happening again.
We understand that this has been a harrowing day for many of our customers. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this outage may have caused you. We are sorry that our dedicated service was denied to our beloved customers.
We appreciate your understanding and patience with us during this issue. We will continue providing you with the quality service you deserve.
Sincerely,
The Jnet Management, and Tech Support Team
